The fine folks over at BeatCrave have a great review of the recent Avi Buffalo/Wailing Wall show in Los Angeles. Included are tons of great photos! Check it out HERE.
“The Wailing Wall started the night off with a song sung entirely a Capella by front man Jesse Rifkin. For those in the audience who didn’t know The Wailing Wall’s sound may have been caught off guard by Rikin’s Bob Dylan-like vocals ringing throughout the venue – so naked yet so fearless – but it definitely did get all our attention as a hush spread throughout The Troubadour.”
Avi Buffalo - What’s In It For

This weekend, The Wailing Wall is traveling to Los Angeles for the first time, where we are honored to be opening for Sub Pop’s Avi Buffalo at their record release show on Saturday, May 1st at the Troubadour.
I have known the band’s leader, Avigdor Zahner-Isenberg, since the summer of 2003, when I was his counselor-in-training at Habonim Dror Camp Gilboa, then located in Tehachapi, CA. I remember we listened to a lot of Wilco that summer, and it seems to have rubbed off on him. I’ve been aware of Avi’s talent since he first started uploading demos to his myspace page in 2006, and I am astounded by the creative heights he and his bandmates have reached. When they came to play their first shows in New York back in January, they spent a couple nights sleeping on my floor, and I was impressed by what fantastic and sweet-hearted people they all are. I am proud to call them my friends.
Avi Buffalo’s debut album, released this week, is A TOTAL MASTERPIECE which I can not recommend highly enough. Tickets for the Troubadour show are still on sale (though I believe they are going fast), and can be purchased HERE.
While in LA, the Macaroons were tasked with finding the perfect Purim costumes for their show at the Echo. In the video above, they show you how it’s done.
While a slew of artists helped JDub bash Haman in NYC over the weekend, The Macaroons, the first JDub kids band, spent Purim in LA.
The band rocked their way through the songs on their upcoming record, Let’s Go Coconuts, and we’ve captured a few, including “Mezuzah,” “Magic Tallis Ride” and “Elijah.”

Our Purim was a BLAST! There were 4 different JDub artists playing parties, 3 in NYC and one in Los Angeles — were you at any of our events? Tell us how they went!
Luckily, we’ve got loads of photos from our HAMANBASHIN’ Purim party at the CSV on the Lower East Side in NYC. The rest of those pictures are HERE. All photos courtesy of Dan Sieradski.
Want more? Metromix New York sent a photographer out, and that gallery is HERE.
The Macaroons would like to wish the world a Happy Purim!! While you’re preparing your costume or shaking your grogger, be sure to grab this free track from the Macaroons called “Haman!Boo!” It’s Purim appropriate and catchy as all heck. “Haman! Boo!” is just a little taste of what to expect from their debut album, Let’s Go Coconuts!, available in stores April 6th.
Looking for something to do with your Purim? We’ve got the stuff!
If you’re in LA, the Macaroons are playing a Purim bash at The Echo!
If you’re in NYC, we’re hosting the big HAMANBASHIN‘ gig at CSV on the LES! Plus, we have a new TICKET SPECIAL: if you come in costume, your ticket at the door is only $10!
We are looking for interns in our LA office!
LA Interns will assist, support the work of, and report to, the Vice President of Strategic Planning and Development. The ideal candidates will enjoy working within a fluid, flexible and creative environment, using his/her entrepreneurial instincts, sense of humor and social intelligence to advance the mission of the organization. A successful candidate will have the opportunity to intern as part of a lively team in an idealistic, people-centered, non-corporate environment in which you will see your work have a real and tangible impact every day.

So, I finally got to go through all the awesome photos from our last Milk & Honey party at Bar Lubitsch in West Hollywood. The third time we’ve thrown this little shindig, the night featured an open bar and DJ Sabbo of Soulico on the decks. Full album here, but check out some favorites (by Kevin Knight) under the cut!

Ok folks…the title is pretty self-explanatory on this one. In keeping with my continued fascination with AI’s front-runner, MOT Adam Lambert (or “glambert” as many other bloggers affectionately call him), I thought we would participate with two favorite Jewish pastimes: drinking and gambling.
