Israel’s acclaimed rap duo Peled & Ortega have finally released their shelved album Special Delivery. The two went their separate ways a couple of years ago, leaving their sophomore album in the vaults. Now, the long-awaited album is finally released via Bandcamp - with help from producers Ori Shochat and Michael Cohen. The posse cut “Open Mic” features our man Sagol 59 with a lyrically blazing final verse. Listen here:

On Thursday, April 29th at The Block in Tel Aviv, a who’s who of Israeli Hip Hop and Reggae will assemble to appreciate Arie “Chulu” Avitan who, 15 years ago, opened “Madman”, hip hop clothing chain/recording studios, where the first Israeli rap tracks were recorded. The line up includes Subliminal, Mooky, members of Shabak Samech, Sagol 59, Big Fishy, Silverdon and countless others. Thanks to Noa Ramone for the photo!
On April 29th at The Block club in Tel Aviv, an amazing line up of Israeli hip hoppers will gather to perform in honour of Arie ‘Chulu’ Avitan, who, through his hip hop clothing shop “Madman’, has kick-started the genre some 15 years ago. Among the acts performing live onstage: Subliminal, Mooky, members of Shabak Samech, Big Fishi. Silverdon, Sagol 59, Kwami, Cohen & Mushon and many more. The event will be filmed and recorded - and looks like a hell of a night to remember.
Just before Passover, Israel’s leading radio station, Galei Zahal 96.6FM, had broadcasted a special programme, surveying the history of Israeli Hip Hop and celebrating 25 years since the first Hebrew Rap song (”Hashem Tammid” by Yair Nitzani) was recorded. Among the guests featured on the show were Hadag Nachash, Mooky, Sagol 59, The Shadow and DJ $upreme. Watch the YNET video or download the whole show here.
