Funnyman Michael Showalter is currently featured in the NY Observer article “The Little Helper’s Little Helper”, which focuses on the new-ish scenario of anti-psychotics being marketed towards patients already on anti-depressants. Sure, it’s somewhat of a serious turn for Showalter, but he manages to bring a few laughs into the piece. Check it out HERE, with full-text below the cut.

Last night some of the JDub crew took a field trip to see Michael Showalter interviewed on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to promote his new show Michael and Michael Have Issues. Other guests included the illustrious Alec Baldwin, Jordan Sparks and Showalter’s BFF4LYF Michael Ian Black. It was definitely a special event. I’ve included a video of the Michaels above, and a screenshot of yours truly (and Dr. Doughnuts) in the Fallon audience.
Don’t forget to watch Michael and Michael Have Issues TONIGHT at 10:30PM on Comedy Central!
I asked a bunch of great comedy writers to write an ode to Michael Showalter before tonight’s premiere of Michael and Michael Have Issues on Comedy Central. I got a few back, but the best one was definitely from Jane Borden, the comedy editor at Time Out NY:
Also: we’re still running Michael and Michael Have Contest! Buy his record and win a bunch of awesome prizes….
…and the number one reason to tune in to the Late Show with David Letterman tonight (Tuesday, July 14th) is Michael Showalter!!!
Keeping up with the sandwich
commandments, Showalter will be served open face on a slice of Edie Falco (aka Nurse Jackie aka Carmela Soprano) and a slice of Wilco featuring Feist. Add mustard and a pickle and that is perhaps the most delicious sandwich I’ve ever heard of.
Don’t forget to also tune in to Showalter’s brand new show Michael & Michael Have Issues and enter our contest to win a copy of The State: The Complete Series DVD and Stella: Season One DVD.
Michael & Michael Have Issues Contest:Contest runs from now until Sunday, July 19th at 7 pm. Email us a copy of your sales receipt for proof of purchase and use “Showalter Contest” as the subject.

Bonus: Here is a ridiculous piece of comedy that has been on repeat in the JDub offices. It’s a track called Kingston College from the lost and found State comedy album called, “Comedy For Gracious Living.” It features the genius of Michael Showalter, Ken Marino and Ben Garant.

Well, I’ve just gotten back from my yearly pilgrimage to Manchester, TN for what I consider to be the best music festival in the US: Bonnaroo. I’ve gone for the past four years, and I never come back disappointed. This year I was joined by a nice assortment of JDubbers– comedian Michael Showalter, and Stuart Bogie and Brian Chase of The Sway Machinery. Michael performed with Michael Ian Black in the comedy tent, Stuart performed with his friends in TV on the Radio and Brian played with his other band…you may have heard of them, they’re called the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
To satiate your curiosity, here is a list of fantastic music I got to see: Bruce Springsteen, Nine Inch Nails, Phish, David Byrne, Wilco, Al Green, Snoop Dogg, The Mars Volta, TV on the Radio, MGMT, Andrew Bird, Band of Horses, Girl Talk, Bon Iver, Michael & Michael Have Issues, Of Montreal, Animal Collective, Neko Case, Amadou & Mariam, Santigold, Okkervil River, St. Vincent, Passion Pit, Dillinger Escape Plan, Ted Leo & The Pharmacists, Dirty Projectors, Yeasayer and Janelle Monae.
And here are some things you need to know: the sound on Animal Collective was absolutely TERRIBLE, but I don’t think it was their fault that the bass was 100x too high. MGMT’s excuse for a late night ’show’ was the most boring set at the festival, where Santigold was by far the most interesting. The Beastie Boys came out to watch her perform! I stood behind David Byrne during the Dirty Projectors (St. Vincent watched too, she knew all the words) and I got to see his big smile before he bounded up on stage to play “Knotty Pine.” I got to Phish’s second set on Sunday just in time to catch Bruce’s appearance, where he jammed out “Glory Days” to 10+ minutes. He was really excited to be up there, and something about him dueling on guitar with Trey was really strangely sensual! Elvis Costello played with Jenny Lewis, Snoop played with Erykah Badu, Beastie Boys brought out Nas, and Michael and Michael surprised the crowd with an appearance by Margaret Cho. There you have it–your rapid Bonnaroo wrap up. It was all very exciting!
Michael has a great collection of haiku poems detailing his experience at the ‘Roo — check them out HERE.
Anyway, I didn’t bring a nice camera because I always forget to bring a nice camera, but I did manage to collect some great photos from the wiser people that did. Behold a smattering of Bonnaroo photos below the cut.

Michael and Michael Have Issues is coming this July to Comedy Central and it’s gonna be a barrel of laughs.
