Balkan Beat Box on FIFA ‘10
EA Games just announced their soundtrack listings for a whole new round of videogames, and Balkan Beat Box’s “Ramallah Tel Aviv” is included as the theme for Israel’s team on FIFA ‘10.
Here’s more info from the official release:“For the latest edition of the most influential global soundtrack in the world today, EA SPORTS FIFA 10 brings together genre-spanning tracks from 39 different artists representing more than 25 nations, including England, Spain, Germany, Sweden, Mexico, Brazil, Norway, New Zealand, Israel, USA and Nigeria.”

Soulico is a 4 person DJ crew based in Tel Aviv, Israel. The first cats in the Middle East to master the trifecta of production, turntablism and party-rocking skills. Soulico is eager to drop their JDub debut, Exotic on the Speaker, digitally September 8th and in stores September 29th. Balkan Beat Box - Adir Adirim (Nikodemus Remix)
In April, Balkan Beat Box celebrated the release of their new remix record Nu Made at NYC’s Webster Hall to a crowd of over 1,000. Now, they are scaling back the size of their stage in order to make room for a bigger sound made to delight, titillate and electrify devoted BBB fans.
The band will primarily be playing cuts from their mysterious-new-record-in-progress and Nu Made, the disc URB called “entertaining, fulfilling, and enjoyable…what every Balkan Beat Box fan wants.” Time Out NY describes the BBB live show as a crowd of “wall-to-wall bodies…[listening to] a mix of African, Middle Eastern, and Balkan rhythms, pumped up with electronics and played by high-energy guys who wail on their instruments…a pop power pill.”
Having just played to over 10,000 people to celebrate Earth Day in Tel Aviv, this “famously raucous” (Boston Globe) band promises to deliver exactly what you expect and things you couldn’t imagine until you see them—wild jams that get your ears in the zone and your feet on the dance floor.

The Best Field Trip Ever
Last week we had the pleasure of helping Steven Beeber (punk historian-turned-Tufts-teacher) take his entire Jewish Origins of Punk Rock class to see Balkan Beat Box and The Sway Machinery play the Paradise Rock Club in Boston. The class got VIP passes, a sit-down with both bands, and a chance to rock out in real-time with some of the best contemporary Jewish musicians working today. I can’t think of a better way to bring their subject matter to life! Luckily, The Boston Phoenix was around to film the entire thing. That clip is above.
