JDub seeks a Development Director to significantly expand the scope of JDub’s cultivation strategies and fundraising efforts. Goals:
- Maintain current levels of support from foundations, Board of Directors and individual giving
- Develop multi-pronged fundraising strategy each year to meet financial goals as determined by CEO and Board of Directors
- Maintain 100% Board Giving and grow Board of Directors to 15 members
- Raise at least $150K in new giving to support Jewcy.com in FY 2011
- Maintain relationships in Los Angeles, New York, and San Francisco (and other local communities) with funders, strategic partners, and communal professionals
- Assist CEO and COO with organizational strategic planning, creating infrastructure, building organizational capacity and long term visioning
- Foster a culture and understanding of philanthropy among the JDub staff
Responsibilities:
- Create & implement detailed Development Plan
- Plan, manage, and implement fund-raising campaigns and activities, including online and social media giving, text-to pledge programs, and physical solicitation mailings
- Develop strategies for prospecting, donor-relations, and donor-involvement.
- Cultivate new individual donors and solicit gifts.
- Manage and cultivate relationships with all funders, Advisors, foundation professionals, donors and prospects
- Manage all grant reporting
- Work with Board members to meet their individual fundraising goals and solicit Board gifts each year and manage process of cultivating new Board members
- Work with Board Co-Chairs to plan working group meetings and prep for Board meetings, including all scheduling, logistics, securing speakers, preparing agendas/notes and follow-up
- Design and help implement fundraising events of various sizes and scales, in association with CEO and Event Producer as per the Development Plan.
- Consult with Six Points Fellowship on development strategy, especially as pertains to expansion to other communities
- Communicate directly with artists, where appropriate, to assist in developing specific programmatic/music-related funding proposals
- Assist CEO with speaking notes, presentation prep, conference prep, writing for publication, donor email language and other development-related tasks.
- Supervise development intern and/or other staff, where requested
Qualifications & Experience:
Qualified applicants will have at least a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years of relevant work experience. In addition, the ideal candidate possesses the following skills:
- At least two years supervisory/management experience
- At least four years fundraising experience
- Interest in / knowledge of Jewish culture and community
- Detail oriented, highly organized, and able to multi-task
- Demonstrated commitment to JDub’s mission and vision
- Track-record of work performed with the highest standards of quality and excellence
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Self-starter with the ability both to innovate and adapt
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to shift priorities when needed in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility, discretion (confidentiality), and a positive attitude
- Ability to work extended hours as needed including some evenings and weekends as required
- Ability to meet short deadlines while handling multiple projects
