Most amazing job opportunity

I was able to start JDub because I won the Jewish lottery.  That was how we used to refer to recipients of the Joshua Venture Fellowship, a 2 year program/grant for “Jewish social entrepreneurs” that provided 16 of us with over $60,000 in seed funding, retreats, technical support, and organizational consultants.  Joshua Venture’s support of  JDub, Heeb, Keshet, Just Vision, Storahtelling, JPEFSharsheret, and The Hub brought these organizations to life.  In JDub’s case, JV not only provided these vital resources, but also the validation we needed to bring other supporters to the table.  Without JV, we would not exist.  Now, after 4 dormant years, JV is back and hiring!

The Program and Administrative Associate will be a critical member of Joshua Venture’s small team and work under the supervision of the Executive Director, Lisa Lepson.  The ideal candidate will manage administrative duties while taking on greater roles in program planning, meeting and retreat coordination, and stakeholder communications. Because Joshua Venture is in an early stage of development, there will be great opportunity for responsibility, impact, and learning.

Learn lots more after the jump.  And yes, this means you Jewish social entrepreneurs can start prepping your applications…

ORGANIZATION:
Joshua Venture’s mission is to reinvigorate and expand the Jewish community by cultivating the leadership and management capability of talented passionate young Jewish social entrepreneurs and investing in their visions and the growth of healthy sustainable organizations. Joshua Venture offers a fellowship that provides seed funding, organizational and professional development support and communities of practice. The fellowship also confers legitimacy upon the fellows and their ventures, and expands their networks within the Jewish community.

Joshua Venture was originally founded in 2000 by three leading American Jewish foundations and ran two 2-year fellowship cohorts of eight fellows each. The majority of these ventures continue to operate across a variety of fields, and have been recognized for their innovative contributions to the Jewish community, being named to the Forward 50 and listed in Slingshot, among others.

In 2005, Joshua Venture suspended its operations and a small group of leaders spent the next two years evaluating the program’s effectiveness, restructuring its governance, program and funding model and building a strong financial foundation. In 2008, a group of philanthropists including the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation, the Lippman Kanfer Family Foundation, the Nathan Cummings Foundation and the Stanford and Joan Alexander Foundation committed to funding Joshua Venture’s core operations for five years. Joshua Venture is currently building its new team and preparing to re-launch the program.
