A new restaurant in the East Village, Joe Doe, is attracting a ton of press for its menu that is heavily influenced by Ashkenazi food and the chef isn’t Jewish (he is Italian), his girlfriend is! One of the funniest menu items is the Conflicted Jew, a sandwich of chicken livers wrapped in bacon on toasted challah.
